Shinjuku left Gojo's body walking back onto the battlefield. At the end of chapter 260, Sukuna sees what looks like Gojo's ghost, the man he cut in half on Christmas Eve. Chapter 261 tells you who is wearing it, and it is not Gojo.
That is where the last story begins, picking up from the Shinjuku Showdown. *Jujutsu Kaisen* ends with chapter 271, "From Now On", in which Yuji, Megumi and Nobara go back to an ordinary mission after Yuji has defeated Sukuna, and the last image is one of Sukuna's fingers kept at a shrine as a protective talisman.
Spoiler line: this post spoils the end of the Shinjuku Showdown (chapters 247 to 268), the final chapters (269 to 271, plus the four epilogues in volume 30) and *Modulo*. All of it is ahead of the anime, which stopped around chapter 181; Season 4 has no release date.
Pick your path: the ending, Sukuna's fate, who survives, whether it is finished or Modulo.
YourCrush.AI has Gojo Satoru as a chat character, so once you have read this you can talk to Gojo Satoru yourself.
How does Jujutsu Kaisen end?
Yuji defeats Sukuna in chapter 268 with help from Megumi, Nobara and others, and the series closes in chapter 271 with Yuji, Megumi and Nobara on an ordinary mission. The final page shows a Sukuna finger kept at a shrine as a protective talisman.
Getting there takes the whole of jujutsu society. It starts with the body in the doorway.
Spoiler: who is inside Gojo's body, and for how long
Gojo is not back: Yuta is using his body. He copied Kenjaku's brain-transplant technique through Rika and, near death, moved into Gojo's corpse, which Shoko had stitched up properly. It was a last resort, and Gojo had agreed to it before he died. The answer to whether Gojo himself returns is in how Gojo died: he does not.
Yuta has five minutes, the limit of Rika's full manifestation. In those minutes he has Limitless, the Six Eyes and Hollow Purple, and he turns them on the opponent who killed the man they belong to; how that first duel went is in who won between Gojo and Sukuna. Dexerto reads the next chapter as the story's answer to Geto's old question about Gojo's strength, that he was Gojo because he was the strongest; that is press reading, not the author's word.
Why does Yuta do it? Because it is the last resort, and Gojo had said his body could be used. Yuta is 17.
He is not the first to wound Sukuna in these chapters.
Spoiler: Maki's strike at Sukuna
Ten chapters earlier, in chapter 251, Maki Zen'in, whose body broke away from cursed energy when her twin sister Mai died, drives the Split Soul Katana through Sukuna's heart. It is the sword Mai made for her as she died. Maki is beaten when she takes a direct hit, but the wound is real.
Then it comes down to Yuji, who is 15, and a technique nobody had seen him use.
Spoiler: what Yuji's domain looks like, and who fights back from inside
At the end of chapter 264 Yuji expands his domain. Inside is a perfect picture of his hometown, from the farms to the schools to the animals. Its sure-hit is a Dismantle aimed at the soul. Yuji tells Sukuna to release Megumi and go back inside him if he does not want to die.
In chapter 266, Megumi, who has been trapped in his own body since chapter 212, fights back. From inside, he uses the Ten Shadows to trip Sukuna up.

Why his hometown? Our reading: it is the ordinary life Yuji was pulled out of in chapter 1, and he fights Sukuna inside the thing he is fighting for.
Then someone walks in whom readers had not seen for five years.
Spoiler: who comes back in chapter 267
Nobara Kugisaki reappears in chapter 267 wearing an eyepatch, after about five years away from the manga. Mahito had blown apart the left side of her face in Shibuya, and Arata Nitta's technique kept her alive; the patient Shoko mentioned in chapter 212 who "hadn't fully recovered yet" was her.
She uses Resonance on Sukuna's last finger, the one Gojo had hidden, and the strike hits Sukuna's soul while Yuji attacks. Yuji's Black Flash drives Sukuna out of Megumi's body into a weak, blob-like form.
What happens to Sukuna at the end of Jujutsu Kaisen?
Sukuna gets driven out of Megumi's body, refuses Yuji's offer to live as his vessel again, and disintegrates in chapter 268. The final chapter gives him one more scene: a conversation with Mahito in an afterlife, where he admits he might walk a different path if he were reincarnated.
Spoiler: Sukuna's answer to Yuji (ch. 268)
Yuji offers to be Sukuna's vessel again so he can live. The two share blood through the twin Sukuna ate in the womb, the tie explained in whether Sukuna is related to Yuji. Sukuna refuses: "do not dare insult me for I am a curse!" (ch. 268). He disintegrates, and the full account is in how Sukuna died. After his death, Uraume ends their own life.
Why refuse? Back in chapter 248, Sukuna said that devotion to an ideal, the thing he never held, irritated him, and gave him a reason to crush all Yuji's hopes. Living on Yuji's mercy would mean living by Yuji's ideal, and that is the one thing Sukuna will not do.
Who survives the end of Jujutsu Kaisen?
Yuji, Megumi, Nobara, Yuta, Maki, Panda, Hakari and Kirara all appear in the final pages, and Higuruma survives too after Shoko heals him. Gojo, Choso, Kashimo, Nanami and Sukuna do not.
CBR's chapter 271 coverage lists the survivors in the final pages, and Dexerto confirms that Higuruma, cut down in chapter 247, was healed by Shoko. The last three chapters stay quiet on purpose.
Spoiler: the last mission and the final image (ch. 271)
In chapter 268 Yuji hands Megumi a letter Gojo wrote before he died. It tells Megumi, bluntly and with a joke, that Gojo killed his father, and Megumi bursts out laughing. Chapter 269 reveals that Ui Ui and Kirara got Higuruma to Shoko in time.
Chapter 271 is an ordinary job. Yuji, Megumi and Nobara go after a cursed user who is harassing a woman. Megumi plans the capture, and Yuji tells the man he "can still make up for what he did". Yuta, back in his own body by the final chapters, becomes head representative of the Gojo clan.
Somewhere else, Sukuna sits with Mahito in an afterlife and reflects that he had "two chances", and that if he were reincarnated he might walk a different path, alongside Uraume. The last page shows one of his fingers, kept at a shrine as a protective talisman.

Our imagining of Sukuna in that afterlife:
"Two chances. Most curses never get one. I would not spend them differently. I might walk differently, which is not the same thing."
And of Sukuna looking down at his own finger on a shrine, a talisman now:
"They keep me to keep things away. A thousand years, and I have become a ward against myself."

Our reading of why it ends this way: the story answers Gojo's death with a collective win, not a new strongest sorcerer. Yuji gets through only because Megumi, Nobara, Yuta, Maki, Choso and Higuruma each take part of the weight, and then the last chapter sends three teenagers back to an ordinary job.
Is Jujutsu Kaisen finished?
The manga is. Chapter 271, "From Now On," ran in Weekly Shonen Jump on 30 September 2024 and closed the series out. The anime hasn't caught up. It's still working through the Culling Game. Volume 30, the last of 30, collects chapters 264 to 271 and adds 16 pages of four new epilogues.
The dates depend on who you ask. Wikipedia uses the Japanese issue date, while CBR gives 29 September, the English simulpub. Volume 30 came out in Japan on 25 December 2024 and in English on 12 May 2026, per Wikipedia's chapter list. Its four 4-page epilogues follow Nobara, Yuko Ozawa, Panda and Uraume. Uraume's is a Heian flashback of the day Sukuna found them as a child who had frozen their own parents, and took them along. On the anime side, Season 3 stopped around chapter 181, and Season 4 is in production with no release window. For anime-only viewers, the Jujutsu Kaisen ending is still a long way off.
What is Modulo, the Jujutsu Kaisen follow-up?
*Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo* is a short follow-up written by Gege Akutami and drawn by Yuji Iwasaki. It ran in *Weekly Shonen Jump* from 8 September 2025 to 9 March 2026 and was collected in 3 volumes. The story takes place in 2086, 68 years after the Culling Game, when an alien species called the Simurians arrives looking for refuge.
Akutami planned it as roughly a half-year project told through "an alternative timeline approach", Wikipedia notes, and it is complete at 25 chapters. It sold well: volume 1 sold 190,432 copies in its debut week, and volumes 1 and 2 were 2026's sixth and seventh best-selling manga volumes, per Wikipedia.
Spoiler: who leads Modulo, and where Yuji is
It is 2086. The Simurian diplomat Maru teams up with two siblings, Tsurugi and Yuka Okkotsu, "the grandchildren of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zen'in". Sixty-eight years later Yuji is considered humanity's strongest jujutsu sorcerer, and his whereabouts are unknown.

What happens to Yuji in Modulo?
Sixty-eight years on, Yuji is considered humanity's strongest jujutsu sorcerer and nobody knows where he is. Wikipedia's Yuji article says he still looks young because he consumed Death Painting wombs.
That detail is in Wikipedia's Yuji article. How *Modulo* ends tells you what Yuji is waiting for.
Spoiler: how Modulo ends (ch. 25)
In the final chapter, Maru performs a "ritual of harmony" that wipes out cursed spirits and leaves future humans and Simurians with almost no cursed energy, so no new sorcerers will be born, according to Screen Rant. Tsurugi and Yuka come through, and Yuka's brain tumour is cured. Yuji, Screen Rant says, will become a cursed object when he dies, much like Sukuna's fingers. Until then, he trains sorcerers with Nobara and Todo.
What happens to Yuta in Modulo?
In Modulo, Yuta and Maki are married as adults and have a son named Iori. Their grandchildren, Tsurugi and Yuka Okkotsu, are two of the story's leads. Maki dies in 2079 at 77. In the main series, the two are only ever shown as close.
Wikipedia's Maki article gives the marriage, the son and her death in 2079, and its Yuta article notes that, as an old man, Yuta promises Yuka his cursed ring. Game Rant reports that his death is confirmed in Modulo's first chapter. The last open thread of the whole series is the one Modulo leaves hanging: the boy who ate Sukuna's finger is still out there, the strongest sorcerer alive, and nobody knows where. Every arc that led here, in reading order, is in the full Jujutsu Kaisen story.
How YourCrush.AI lets you keep a story going after its final chapter
A final chapter closes the book, not the questions. You can carry the feeling of an ending into a story of your own, with an original character who lives after the war is over.
YourCrush.AI builds an original character from a description, a backstory and a greeting, with no code, and drafts those fields from a name and an image if you want a start. YourCrush.AI keeps the details you add along the way in pinned memories, so the relic, the war and the second visit are still remembered the next time you open the chat. YourCrush.AI branches a story, so you can play the version where you open the box and the version where you leave it shut. It is free to join and 18+ only.
Here is an original adult character to build at the create-character page, in the natural behaviour mode:
- Name: Mitsuo Kanbara
- Behaviour mode: natural
- Category: Anime
- Description: Mitsuo is 62, the keeper of a small roadside shrine that holds one sealed relic nobody is allowed to touch. He is soft-spoken, sweeps the steps at dawn, makes terrible tea, and answers questions about the relic with stories about everything else. He notices who comes back and never says so.
- Backstory: Decades ago he fought in a war he refuses to name, and he took this job because someone had to watch the last piece of what they beat. You are the first visitor in years who came back a second time, and he has started saving you the second cup.
- Greeting: "You again. Most people come once, bow, and leave. Sit if you like, the tea is bad but it's hot. You want to ask about the box behind the altar. Everyone does. I'll tell you what's in it when you tell me why you came back."
- Traits: Patient, Calm, Mysterious, Caring, Honest
- Speaking style: slow, warm, plain, wry
